India plans to ban Chinese smartphones that are less than Rs. 12000. Chinese mobile phones have been dominating the Indian smartphone market for years. But according to recent reports now Indian Government is planning to restrict the sale of low-end China-based smartphones. The report mentions that the government has taken this step to boost the sale of homegrown brands.

Indian Government Plan to Ban Chinese Smartphones under Rs. 12000

In a recent market survey by International Data Corporation, the top smartphone brands in India are Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, and Samsung. Except for Samsung, the rest are Chinese brands. According to the current reports India may give domestic smartphone manufacturers a chance to boost their market share in their home Country.

Bloomberg report mentions that India plans to ban Chinese smartphones that are less than Rs. 12000. This ban can impact the business of above mentioned Chinese and other brands that rely on the Indian mobile market. As per the report, smartphone sales have sharply declined in the Indian market in the last few months due to several reasons. In such a situation, this decision can hugely affect the sales of Chinese brands.

There are some Chinese brands that will suffer due to this said ban. Tecno’s, Pop, shark, and Pova series, and Infinix’s Smart, Hot, and Note series. And the Itel brand mainly focuses on phones within Rs. 6000. The Indian phone brands that will get benefitted from this Ban are Micromax, Lava, Karbonn, and Reliance Jio. The ban will help these Indian brands gain popularity and increase market share.

Indian plans to ban budget Chinese smartphone aims to promote Indian brands in order to stop the diversion of profits and Indian money from India to Chinese offices. According to a recent investigation report, some Chinese smartphone manufacturers have been laundering Indian money in order to pay less tax and duties. Companies like Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi have also been served notice by Indian Government for this reason.

However, it is yet to be officially announced if Indian Government actually plans to ban Chinese smartphone markets to sell phones that are less than Rs. 12000. Though if they take the final decision it is to see how they plan to initiate the move. Though some manufacturers must be looking at ways to bypass this ban we hope the Indian government’s intentions are really true.
