India plans to ban Chinese smartphones that are less than Rs. 12000. Chinese mobile phones have been dominating the Indian smartphone market for years. But according to recent reports now Indian Government is now planning to restrict the sale of low-end China-based smartphones. The report mentions that the government has taken this step to boost the sale of homegrown brands.

India is the world’s second-biggest mobile market. Indian Government’s major step is said to move Chinese smartphone makers out of the lower market of the world. In a recent market survey by International Data Corporation, the top smartphone brands in India are Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, and Samsung. Except for Samsung, the rest are Chinese brands. According to the current reports India may give domestic smartphone manufacturers a chance to boost their market share in their home Country.

Bloomberg report mentions that India plans to ban Chinese smartphones that are less than Rs. 12000. This ban can impact the business of above mentioned Chinese and other brands that rely on the Indian mobile market. As per the report, smartphone sales have sharply declined in the Indian market in the last few months due to several reasons. In such a situation, this decision can hugely affect the sales of Chinese brands.


Some Chinese brands will suffer due to this ban. Tecno’s, Pop, shark, and Pova series, and Infinix’s Smart, Hot, and Note series. The Itel brand mainly focuses on phones within Rs. 6000. The Indian phone brands that will benefit from this Ban are Micromax, Lava, Karbonn, and Reliance Jio. The ban will help these Indian brands gain popularity and increase market share.
