WhatsApp is working on a new feature ’15 additional durations for disappearing messages‘ on the beta desktop app. According to the reports, this feature will provide users with more control and flexibility over their messages. This under-development feature will be available in a future update of the app.

15 Additional Durations for Disappearing messages
You all must be knowing about WhatsApp’s Disappearing Messages feature that lets users have their messages deleted automatically after a certain time period. This feature enhances the privacy of your conversations as the messages do not get stored anywhere. At present, the platform supports three durations – 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days.

In the current beta update, the platform is planning to enhance the disappearing messages feature by adding 15 new duration options. The WhatsApp new source has also shared a screenshot of the feature. The image reveals that the new durations will be added under the ‘more options’ menu. The options include durations ranging from one year to 1 hour.
They are – 1 year, 180 days, 60 days, 30 days, 21 days, 14 days, 6 days, 5 days, 4 days, 3 days, 2 days, 12 hours, 6 hours, 3 hours, and 1 hour. Particularly the 1-hour duration is reported to be more useful as sensitive and confidential messages get deleted quickly.

According to the screenshot, the 15 additional duration for disappearing messages is being developed for the beta version of the WhatsApp Windows desktop client. But the report confirms that the platform is also working to implement these new durations for beta versions of Android and IOS too.
