WhatsApp rolling out a new keep-in-chat feature for disappearing messages

A Previous article released by the leading WhatsApp news source WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp was working on a new ‘kept messages’ feature. According to the company’s recent blog post, now the feature is official. This means the ability to keep messages in deciphering messages will soon be available for everyone who installs the latest update of WhatsApp for iOS, Android, and Desktop.

The WhatsApp news portal has also released a screenshot of the feature. In the image, you can see that when somebody keeps a message the sender gets notified that their message has been kept. However, the sender gets the full power to decide whether to let people keep their message or not with the ‘veto’ option.

So if the sender decides that their messages should not be kept by others, they can choose the Unkeep option. This will delete the message automatically once the timer expires. The report further mentions that the keep-in-chat feature for disappearing messages comes with a bookmark icon.

So when you save any message, it can easily be identified with the label. You can see these saved messages within a new ‘kept messages’ section under chat info. This makes the saved messages easy to access when needed.

As mentioned earlier the keep-in-chat feature is available to WhatsApp for Android, WhatsApp for IOS, and WhatsApp for Desktop users. As per the company’s official blog post, the new feature will be rolled out globally over the coming weeks. So if you don’t have this feature even after installing the latest version, please wait for a few weeks.
